DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day by Day Itinerary .
Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA . Arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Welcome and transfer to Hotel Herradura and free time.
Day 2. TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK ) . (B,L,D). Leave your hotel in San José early in the morning. Admire the biodiversity of astonishing protected area in Costa Rica as we drive by Braulio Carrillo National Park , a primary forest in 95% of its extension. Have a taste of our delicious Costa Rican breakfast in route.
Be our special guest in a banana processing and packaging plant and learn more about one of Costa Rica's prime product (subject to availability). Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals. Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and delicious lunch as we welcome you to Laguna Lodge or similar. After lunch, you will visit the museum, the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero . A delightful dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge. Optional Night Tour : Walk on the beach and admire the green turtles nesting (July through September).
DAY 3. TORTUGUERO. (B,L,D) Morning and dusk cruising on the canals. In the afternoon, relax in the pool of the Laguna Lodge or visit the small village of Tortuguero . Note: Entrance fee to the National Park not included.
Day 4. TORTUGUERO & TRANFER TO ARENAL VOLCANO (B, L, D) : Morning tour: Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn, and take your best shots of a real Caribbean sunrise. Breakfast upon arrival to the lodge. Departure to Arenal Volcano by boat and bus. On the middle of the way and after lunch, you will meet your private transport or shuttle bus and proceed overland to Arenal . Check In at Hotel Arenal Paraiso or similar.
Evening: visit Baldi Hot Springs, where you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. Dinner included. Note: Transportation form the hotel to the hot springs not included, but it is only 5 minutes by cab.
Day 5. ARENAL VOLCANO –SAN JOSE (B) . Morning, free time at leisure. Afternoon, land transfer to San Jose . Overnight at Hotel Herradura. Free evening. Lunch and dinner on your own.
Day 6. TORTUGA ISLAND CRUISE (B, L) This one day voyage into the exotic Gulf of Nicoya is perhaps the most enchanting experience to be enjoined in this charming and beautiful country. From our cast-off to the open sea, history, legend and breath taking views are yours to experience and treasure. We will go sailing past San Lucas, the famous former jail island, then on to Gypsy and Sugar Loaf islands and we make landfall at midday. In a magic cove, we pause a few hours to indulge in swimming, shell collecting, snorkelling or just plain relaxing in the sun or at the bar. Our delicious lunch features fresh sea foods with lunch fruits and vegetables from the area.
From our 6:00am pick up at your hotel to an approximate 7:00pm return, a festive party atmosphere, with excitement and sport, will make for a marvellous one day journey into the myriad hideaway ports of the pirates of yesterday. Overnight at Hotel Herradura. Dinner on your own.
Day 7 POAS VOLCANO & LA PAZ WATERFALLS (B, L). Enjoy the contrasts of urban and rural areas, as we drive to the Poas Volcano National Park and continue up the mountains toward San Pedro de Poas. The good climate and fertile soils make this area very productive and the landscape beautiful. Dairy farming, coffee, sugar cane, vegetables, all can be seen during this ride. Poas Volcano National Park is considered the largest geyser in the world, due to its explosive, geyser-like eruptions, which it frequently displays at irregular intervals. This park offers much more than just the spectacular volcanic activity and the visitor will be struck by the intense green colour of the foliage and the great variety of wild flowers.
The most conspicuous plant in the park is the poor people's umbrella, whose leaves grow up to 2 meters in diameter. When we walk on the trails to Lake Botos we can admire this plant. As well as some of the birds found here and the large population of colourful frogs and toads. On a clear day we will see the lake at the bottom of the crater, whose muddy waters change colours depending on the degree of volcanic activity. This park has excellent facilities in its visitors' center, where they will provide us with more visual information on the flora and fauna to be found at this park with a cloud forest habitat, as well as information on the geological formation of the mountains.
After we enjoy this amazing place, we will be visiting La Paz Waterfall Gardens for enjoy the beauty of some of the best waterfalls in Costa Rica . At his place you will have the opportunity to see the largest Butterfly Garden of the world and learn about these beautiful insects. After this, you can walk along the concrete paths into this unique rain forest and enjoy its rich biodiversity, admire the Hummingbird Gallery and taste a real Costa Rican meal in the restaurant. Dinner on your own.
Day 8. TRANSFER OUT . Transfer to the International Airport and Good bye. (B).

Notes:
- Rates based in double occupancy and minimum 2 pax.
- Single supplement, please add $ 450.
- Passengers between 4-10 years old are considered children. Their fee is 80% of the adult fee.
- 3 rd and 4 th Passenger and teenagers sharing room with parents pay 80% of the regular rate.
- Passengers under 3 years old are considered infants and do not pay any fee. Parents will assume their expenses and provide their meals.
- Category B is based with a 4X4 Terios. Mandatory insurance is not included ($18 per day) and Car Rental deposit ($ 750). Car Upgrade available.
- For Christmas, New Year and Eastern Week, please add 20% extra to the regular rate.

DEPARTURE DATES: All our options are available all year around and we just need your travel dates in order to check the hotel's availability and arrange it.
HOW BIG ARE THE GROUPS: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.
HOW TO RESERVE THIS PACKAGE: Please send an email to info@greenwaytours.com with as much as information you can about your desired vacation, number of participants, arrival dates, name of the package you are interested on and any other special requirements. Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 60 days prior to departure.
CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.
AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED: All our options includes the Land Portion only. Airfare must be on your own and indicate your arrival and departure dates to us in order to arrange the hotel's bookings.
HOTEL CATEGORIES: All the hotels used by Greenway Tours had been selected considering the best standards of quality and service. Our Hotels are between 3 and 5 stars. All inspected by our company's owners and managers in order to guarantee an excellent service. At least 50% of our lodging contractors had been certified as Green Companies by the Costa Rican Tourist Board ( Certification in Sustainable Tourism CST ).
AIRPORT TRANSFERS: All our packages includes Airport - Hotel - Airport Transfers with a professional bilingual tour guide upon your flight arrival.
VOUCHERS & WECOME KIT: During the transfer service to your hotel, our tour guide will provide general information about your tour and give you a welcome kit with all the vouchers and documents you will need for your trip. |
