Costa Rica Travel Package

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:

Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA . Arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Transfer to Hotel Sleep Inn.  Free time at leisure.

Day 2. TORTUGA ISLAND TOUR . (B, L) This one day voyage into the exotic Gulf of Nicoya is perhaps the most enchanting experience to be enjoined in this charming and beautiful country. From our cast-off to the open sea, history, legend and breath taking views are yours to experience and treasure. We will go sailing past San Lucas, the famous former jail island, then on to Gypsy and Sugar Loaf islands and we make landfall at midday . In a magic cove, we pause a few hours to indulge in swimming, shell collecting, snorkeling or just plain relaxing in the sun or at the bar. Our delicious lunch features fresh sea foods with lunch fruits and vegetables from the area.

From our 6:00am pick up at your hotel to an approximate 7:00pm return, a festive party atmosphere, with excitement and sport, will make for a marvelous one day journey into the myriad hideaway ports of the pirates of yesterday.

Day 3. ARENAL VOLCANO & HOT SPRINGS . (B, L) Located 3 hours from San Jose , Arenal is a beautiful cone-shaped volcano rising out of flat, surrounding plains. It is the most active volcano in the country. In the daytime, clouds of ash and smoke frequently billow into the sky. On clear nights, spectators are occasionally treated to eruptions of lava and burning rocks that explode into the air and shower down the cinder cone. Even when it is overcast, the rumblings venting and molten lava glowing through the clouds afford a very special experience. Leaving San Jose by mid morning, we'll be arriving to the Arenal area in the middle afternoon. There, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the culture of the surroundings and its relationship with the volcano. Next, visit the Hot Springs , where you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. After all this, a great buffet dinner will be served at Baldi Restaurant. This tour leaves by 9:00 AM and returns by 10:00 PM. Bring bathing suit, comfortable waking shoes and sweater.

Day 4. PACUARE RIVER WHITEWATER RAFTING TOUR. (B,L) The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This quintessential tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids. Located on Costa Rica 's Atlantic slope, the Pacuare River borders the Talamanca mountain range, home to native Cabecar Indians and an incredible variety of wildlife.

After an early morning pickup from your San José hotel, you will drive by private, comfortable bus to our Operations Center for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast. After changing comfortably into your swim gear we will drive to our private put in. At our put in the safety talk, equipment fitting and familiarization are done before embarking in the best rafting the country has to offer. You will be ready to raft 14 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids, in one of Costa Rica's most impressive primary rainforests.

After an adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montanas and many more, we finish with a short drive back to our Ríos Tropicales Operations Center for a hearty and delicious lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenir store. On the return drive to San José , you'll enjoy remarkable views of Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano. This unforgettable trip will easily be a highlight of your stay in Costa Rica !

Who can go? Anyone in normal healthy physical condition. Swimming experience is required. Min. age: 14-years-old.

Difficulty: Moderate. Class III rafting: Rapids with high irregular waves; narrow passages that often require complex manoeuvring. Class IV rafting: Long, difficult rapids with constricted passages that often require precise manoeuvring in very turbulent waters.

Recommended gear: Rubber-soled shoes that can get wet (tennis shoes, booties or similar), Swimsuit / swim trunks; t-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material, Waterproof sunscreen lotion (SPF 15 or higher), Sun hat or bandana, Croakies or straps to secure glasses, Clothing Change including shoes for after your Rafting Tour and towel.

Day 5. HOTEL CHECK OUT (B) . Transfer to the International Airport and farewell. (Tour extensions available).

DEPARTURE DATES: All our options are available all year around and we just need your travel dates in order to check the hotel's availability and arrange it.

HOW BIG ARE THE GROUPS: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.

Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 60 days prior to departure.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.

AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED: All our options includes the Land Portion only. Airfare must be on your own and indicate your arrival and departure dates to us in order to arrange the hotel's bookings.
