Your breath-taking, adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel and a relaxing private drive through the wonderful Costa Rican countryside on an air-conditioned transportation and recent model deluxe vehicle or minibus. Your guide will point out many sights of interest including mango, coffee, sugar and citrus plantations, diverse fruit stands and rural farming communities. You will be heading to the Central Pacific Coast and Tarcoles River until arrives to our private property, about 90 minutes’ drive from San Jose. Upon arrival to our beautiful property, you will have some free time for use restrooms and explore the surroundings before to ride your horse.
After arrival meet your English-speaking cowboy, who has devoted his life to horses, will welcome you and will consider your experience and needs before pairing you with the perfect horse. After receiving brief instructions, embark on your 2-hour riding adventure using western saddle. We run a truly authentic, ethical and non-touristy opportunity to see the real Costa Rica on horseback! With our incredible rides, rest assured you are in safe and professional hands. The tour will take you to the Mangrove, the rainforest, the beach and the River, where many huge crocodiles are easy to see.
Immediately after the horseback tour, board our comfortable covered motor launch for an amazing cruise along the Tarcoles River.
Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tarcoles River forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild and they are very easy to admire during our 90 minutes boat tour. Get up-close with American crocodiles of all sizes and observe an abundance of beautiful exotic birds! Enjoy spectacular rainforest scenery and cruise through dense mangrove forest canals. Spot jungle wildlife such as iguanas, lizards, and monkeys.
After the tour, enjoy a delicious typical lunch and explore the best souvenir store in the area. After lunch, return to your hotel.

A Most Memorable Day in Costa Rica
This tour started with a horseback ride through the teak forest and on to the river’s edge. The horses chosen for us were obedient and gentle. The guide was very informative and allowed some quiet during the ride for us to enjoy our surroundings. We proceeded to the ocean and rode through the surf feeling the pleasant breeze in our faces. It was a memorable hour and one half. We then proceeded to the river for the crocodile man river boat tour. Our guide was either fearless or loco, but either way we have never seen anyone get that close to a crock and still have all his limbs, and not only once but with a male and a female crocodile. The guide was a fountain of information on the many species of birds we observed. The river had cattle and horse herds on it’s edge adding to the experience. This tour was definitely in the top five tours of our life.

Great horseback ride
Took the horseback for 2 hours. Guides were great and horses were carefully selected to match riders size, age and skill.
Ride went through jungle then a Teak plantation with trees of different maturity followed by along the river to a tidal basin. After crossing the tidal basin we went to the beach and rose in the surf, wonderful! We then rode along a road by a school and a village and back to our starting point where we were served a light repast with Empanadas, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. Beer was available for purchase. We then walked about 100 meters to the boat where the guide gave us a sheet with all the local wildlife pictured and during the ride pointed out the various birds and reptiles (including alligators).

Horseback riding and Crocodiles!
Had a fabulous time on this tour. We were picked up promptly as per the instructions we received and our guide was both friendly and knowledgeable. At the stables we were paired with a local man who was very friendly and helpful and obviously took great pride in his country as he pointed out various sites along our ride. There was no rush and he allowed us to stop whenever we wanted to take photos. Back at the stables, after a very nice snack of fresh local fruit, we walked to the river and boarded a boat for the second part of our tour. The driver, Juan, took us very close to many of the crocodiles and made sure we got some great photo opportunities. It was a really good tour overall..great value for the money spent compared to some other tours we have taken.
