Day by Day Itinerary.

Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA (D). Begining of the Costa Rica safari tour with your arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Upon arrival at the San Jose airport, you will be met by one of our representatives how will explain your itinerary, answer any questions and provide you with a package of vouchers and information about your trip. Transfer to Hotel Radisson and free time at leisure. Evening Welcome Diner.

Day 2. LA PAZ WATERFALLS GARDENS (B, L). Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the full day tour to the ecological attraction of La Paz Waterfalls. The perfect place for start our Costa Rica safari tour.

After finishing all these unique Eco Attractions, and by the middle of the afternoon, return to your hotel in San Jose. This is the best introduction to Costa Rica Wildlife before to depart to our national parks to see them in their natural habitat.

Day 3. TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK (B, L, D) Our exclusive journey to Tortuguero from San Jose is an amazing experience where you will enjoy a pleasant bus transfer to Guapiles Town. Along the way, admire the pristine rainforest of the Braulio Carrillo National Park and Biosphere Reserve declared by UNESCO in 1988. Crystal clear rivers and beautiful waterfalls will be part of the landscape that you can enjoy during this short transfer. Once in Guapiles Town, a stop will be made to enjoy a delicious typical breakfast. Continuing the journey through the lower parts of the Costa Rican Caribbean, crossing extensive plantations of bananas, pineapple, cocoa and other agricultural products common in the area, we will reach Caño Blanco, an area of rivers and lagoons where a boat awaits us and will take us to deeper in the jungle and our final destination Tortuguero.

The boat trip will take about 90 minutes and it will be a one-in-a lifetime experience surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna. Upon arrival to Pachira Lodge, enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a delicious Lunch. After you get your room, get comfortable for explore the area and visit the museum, the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero. A delightful dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge.

Day 4. TORTUGUERO (B, L, D). Discover Costa Rican flavors as you enjoy breakfast at PACHIRA LODGE.  Get ready to hike Tortuguero Hill or travel along the well-known Tortuguero Canals and have the experience of your life in this unique paradise of magnificent flora and fauna. After the tour, Enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge. During the afternoon, take your time to enjoy our private trails, ride a boat through the canals or just relax. Dinner at the hotel. OPTIONAL NIGHT TOUR: Walk on the beach and admire the green turtles nesting (July through September).

Day 5. TORTUGUERO & TRANFER TO CAÑO NEGRO (B, L, D). Breakfast at the lodge. Departure to Caño Negro by boat and bus. Upon arrival, check in at Caño Negro Lodge.

As the nearest hotel to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, it’s surrounded by nature and beautiful gardens. It offers an incredible wildlife variety of flora and fauna; therefore, it has been tagged the perfect paradise for real Birdwatchers and passionate wildlife lovers.

Day 6. CAÑO NEGRO TOURS (B, L, D). Breakfast at the lodge and departure to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge by boat.

Ideal for nature lovers, families and groups of friends who enjoy natural and biodiverse environments. We start the tour with a walk through the community of Caño Negro. At the dock we board our boat and begin the tour on the Frio river and lagoons where you will experience stunning landscapes, abounding with wildlife and you will get a glimpse of the daily life of people living near the wetland.

Your guide will point out the many natural and cultural riches of Caño Negro. Visitors will be impressed with the variety of flora and fauna that can be seen inside this refuge which is home to more than 350 species of birds, 310 plants and at least 160 species of mammals.

After the tour return to the lodge for lunch and little siesta. During the afternoon, a second tour to the diverse ecological and sustainable projects developed by the community and environmental organizations. During this experience, you will learn about unique species present in this region such as The Gaspar, a living fossil fish common in the lagoons and estuaries of this amazing region. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 7. CAÑO NEGRO – ARENAL VOLCANO (B).  After breakfast, continue the journey to Arenal Volcano and Fortuna Town. Upon arrival, check In at Hotel Arenal Paraiso. Free time.

Day 8 & 9. A FREESTYLE DAY IN ARENAL. (B). Customize your vacation with the included adventure of your choice. Please select one. This option will be added to your final itinerary.

Day 10. ARENAL – CORCOVADO PARK (B, L, D).  Today say goodbye to Arenal Volcano. Our transportation will transfer you to the airport for a domestic flight to Corcovado National Park in the Southern part of Costa Rica and Pacific Ocean.

The diversity found on the Osa peninsula is not surpassed by any region of similar size anywhere on earth. Gary Hartshorn’s enthusiasm was only exceeded by the forest’s when he wrote in Costa Rican Natural History that “these forests are by far the most exuberant in Central America. In fact, the Corcovado forests are just as impressive in height as the best forests I have seen in the Amazon basin or the dipterocarp forests of Malaysia and Indonesia.” Costa Rica safari tour

Corcovado National Park is the experience of a lifetime. It encompasses the only remaining old growth wet forests on the Pacific coast of Central America, and 13 major ecosystems including lowland rain forest, highland cloud forest, jolillo palm forest, and mangrove swamps, as well as coastal marine and beach habitats. There is a good chance of spotting some of Costa Rica’s shyest and most endangered inhabitants here; Baird’s Tapirs, Jaguars, Scarlet Macaws, Harpy Eagles, Red-backed squirrel monkeys and White-lipped Peccaries. It is wet, remote and rugged, but the trails are relatively good.

Upon arrival to Corcovado, check in at Rancho Corcovado. This is the ideal base camp for exploring the magical diversity of Corcovado National Park and Cano Island Reserve.

Day 11 & 12. CORCOVADO PARK EXPEDITIONS (B, L, D).  During these 2 days explore Corcovado with professional naturalist’s tour guides. Expeditions includes a nature walk to Corcovado National Park & Caño Island. One at each day.

Day 13. CORCOVADO PARK – SAN JOSE (B, L, D).  Today say goodbye to Corcovado. Our transportation will take the group to the local airport for a domestic flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival, check in at Hotel Radisson.

Day 14. TRANSFER OUT (B).  Final day of the expedition and Costa Rica safari tour. Transfer to the International airport and goodbye.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE: The shuttle bus is a service where a maximum of 6-7 passengers travel in the same vehicle and to the same destination. By this way, we reduce the price of the transfer service and can arrange more economical packages. The service is very good, door to door, with recent model vehicles, full insured and A/C.

DEPARTURE DATES: All our options are available all year around and we just need your travel dates in order to check the hotel’s availability and arrange it.

HOW BIG THE GROUPS ARE: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.

Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 45 days prior to departure.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.

Cancellation Policy: If cancellation is made 30 days or more prior to the scheduled trip, the deposit will be refunded. If cancellation is made 30-16 days, the entire 50% deposit is forfeited. If cancellation is made 14-1 days before scheduled trip, total deposit is forfeited.
