Day by Day Itinerary.

Day 1. ARRIVE IN SAN JOSE.  Arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Upon arrival at the San Jose airport, you will be met by one of our representatives how will explain your itinerary, answer any questions and provide you with a package of vouchers and information about your trip. Transfer to your Hotel Radisson and free time at leisure.

Day 2.  SAN JOSE CITY TOUR. (B, L). Explore our Capital City, San Jose, with a professional guide on this Bus & Walking unique tour. Starting with a 9:00 AM Pick Up directly from your hotel, you will be able to learn about our culture, architecture, customs and traditions. Touring the main Streets and Avenues, know Parque Metropolitano La Sabana, the largest park in the middle of the city where many sport activities can be practice for free now, but in the past, was the main international airport of Costa Rica. This beloved place by the Costa Ricans, houses important attractions such as The Costa Rican Art Museum and former Control Tower of the airport, The Headquarter of the Costa Rican Soccer Federation, The National Gym, The Olympic Swimming Pool, The National Stadium, a Lake and many soccer, basketball and tennis courses for the free use of the citizens.

Visit the National Theater, National Museum and enjoy a delicious lunch before to return to your hotel. Free time at leisure for explore more about this cosmopolitan city.

Day 3. IRAZU VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK (B) Your breath-taking, adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel and a relaxing private drive through the wonderful Costa Rican countryside on an air-conditioned transportation and recent model deluxe vehicle or minibus. You will be heading to Cartago Province, about 1-hour drive from San Jose.

Irazú Volcano is a National Park in the Central Volcanic Conservation Area of Costa Rica.  The volcano is still active although the last major eruptions were between 1963 and 1965, with occasional minor eruptions and some small lava flows since that time. With our professional tour guide you will be able to explore the park and walk to the main lookout point.

The Crater Principal Lake has an unusual greenish yellow coloring caused by rainfall dissolving the minerals along the crater’s walls. It has also been known to change color to rust-red depending on the minerals present.

The name could come from either the combination of “ara” (point) and “tzu” (thunder) or a corruption of Iztarú, which was the name of an indigenous village on the flanks of the volcano. In Costa Rica, it is known by the name of “El Coloso” (The Colossus) due to the catastrophes that it has provoked in the past.

The volcano’s summit has several craters, one of which contains Diego de la Haya, a green crater lake of variable depth. At 11,260 feet (3,432 m), the Irazú Volcano is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica. It is easily visited from San José, with a road leading right up to the summit craters. From the top, it is possible to see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans on a clear day. However, such clear days are rare, and the volcano’s summit is usually cloud-covered. The national park contains both primary and secondary montane forests and is home to armadillos, owls, rabbits, foxes, woodpeckers, and hummingbirds. Temperatures at its summit vary between 3 and 17 °C (37 and 63 °F). The elevation is 3,432 meters (11,260 ft).

After an exciting tour at the volcano, we will descend to the historical city of Cartago. Here you will visit the mysterious ruins of the old Parish and view the beautiful Basilica of our “Virgen de los Angeles” with rich displays of carvings, statues and art.

Day 4. TRANSFER TO ARENAL VOLCANO AND TOUR. (B) Breakfast at your hotel and transfer to the beautiful Arenal Volcano area and Fortuna Town. Upon arrival visit Arenal 1968 trails for a nature walk to the rain forest and lava formations. Witness some of the closest views of Arenal Volcano on a guided hiking tour of the Arenal 1968 Trail, a newer route that winds through the lava flows from the volcano’s notorious 1968 eruption. Explore the varied terrain around the crater, from steep fields of hardened lava rock on the mountain slopes to open fields and wildlife-rich forests. Learn about native plant and animal species from your guide and soak up the incredible views from an observatory. After the tour, check in at the Hotel La Pradera or similar. Free time.

Day 5. ARENAL VOLCANO TO MANUEL ANTONIO BEACHES.  (B) Breakfast at your hotel and transfer to Manuel Antonio National Park and beaches on the Central Pacific Coast. Upon arrival, check in at Hotel Costa Verde. Free time for explore on your own the town and beaches.

Day 6. MANUEL ANTONIO PARK TOUR.  (B) The Manuel Antonio specialist brings you the privilege of experiencing Costa Rica’s main tourist attraction, the Manuel Antonio National Park. Go on a lovely expedition with a highly trained, well-educated Costa Rican naturalist guide, that will show you the treasures living in the park. Come and enjoy the 33-year-old exotic, bio-diverse tropical rainforest that Manuel Antonio National Park offers.

The pace of this adventure is determined by your group’s abilities and interests, and you will stop and observe the abundance of wildlife there is in the park – all in its natural and breathtaking habitat. Your guide will show you many different species living in the park, such as sloths and numerous species of monkey’s travel through the tree canopy, playing with each other and searching for insects and tropical fruits to eat. You will also be able to see several types of reptiles resting in the tropical rainforest that you are in the middle of. While enjoying your surroundings you can listen to the songs of the various birds as they glide above your group, curiously looking for adventure. On this 2 ½ – hour nature walk you will see infinitely many different kinds of flora and fauna. Your experienced guide will help you to spot this easily missed wildlife and set a telescope for you to admire them as if they were right in front of you, and even take pictures through it.

The tour includes a stop where you will get to enjoy some local fresh fruits and refreshments as you soak in the beautiful esthetics. When you now have some new energy in your body and your guided educational adventure has ended, you are free to explore more of what Manuel Antonio National Park has to offer. After the tour, return to your hotel and free time

Day 7. MANUEL ANTONIO TO SAN JOSE.  (B) During the morning, a great opportunity for explore the surroundings on your own and enjoy the beach. After lunch, transfer to San Jose. Upon arrival, check in at Hotel Radisson and fee time.

Day 8. TRANSFER OUT.  (B) Drive to the International Airport according with your schedules flight and Good bye.

HOW BIG THE GROUPS ARE: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.

Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 60 days prior to departure.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.

AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED: All our options includes the Land Portion only. Airfare must be on your own and indicate your arrival and departure dates to us in order to arrange the hotel’s bookings.

Cancellation Policy: If cancellation is made 30 days or more prior to the scheduled trip, the deposit will be refunded. If cancellation is made 30-16 days, the entire 50% deposit is forfeited. If cancellation is made 14-1 days before scheduled trip, total deposit is forfeited.
