This tour offers you the opportunity to journey into the rainforest canopy and appreciate views of La Amistad International Park and Chirripó Reserve in a unique and unforgettable fashion.

This world-famous tour consists of 11 observation platforms and 11 horizontal “zip line” traverses specially designed to provide a number of views and experiences.  Safety is our priority at the Original Canopy Tour®, and all guests are provided with thorough instruction.

You will glide silently through the rainforest canopy — enjoying commanding views of the wonderful flora and fauna of Costa Rica from the treetops.  Pause for a rest at various platforms and marvel at your view of the Costa Rican rainforest as far as the eye can see.

As you sail through the treetops, you will follow a small stream far below you.  Wildlife sightings are common—keep your camera ready and be on the lookout for monkeys, sloths and many varieties of tropical birds!

You’ll start and finish your exhilarating canopy tour within walking distance of the reception area where beverages, clean restrooms and a souvenir shop await you.

After the zipline tour, continue the journey visiting Puerto Moin until arrive to the Mar Azul wharf, where the covered motor launch waits for you for a ecological cruise along Tortuguero Canals.

Known as Costa Rica’s Amazon because of its surrounding rain forest, the Tortuguero Canal region is rich with exotic flora and fauna. Board your covered boat for a leisurely cruise through the jungle canals. Your guide explains the rain forest eco-system and points out sights of interest. Keep an eye out for wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, bats, aquatic birds, iguanas and crocodiles as well as exotic flora.

After the boat tour, a Puerto Limon City Tour is included. Learn about the local Caribbean culture of Puerto Limon and get that special gift at the multiple souvenir stores in town or taste some of the local flavors before the return to the ship.

Special Notes:

This most active excursion is suitable only for passengers in good physical condition. Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes. Bring insect repellent and rain protection. The minimum age to participate is 6 years old and the maximum weight limit is 270 pounds. Once participants join their tour, they will be required to complete a liability waiver. All our tours have 8:00 AM as departure time. However, if your ship arrives later the pick up time will be 30 minutes after ship arrival.
