BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

DAY 1. Welcome to Costa Rica. Meet & Great at San Jose Airport and transfer to hotel.

DAY 2. Private day tour to La Paz Waterfall Garden. Enjoy 5 magnificent waterfalls with easy access and multiple exhibits of the most representative wildlife species of Costa Rica.

DAY 3. Pick up at your hotel. Meet & Great by our tour guide. Transfer by land and boat to Tortuguero National Park. Check in at Pachira Lodge. Tour to Tortuguero Town.

DAY 4. Breakfast at the lodge. Morning tour to Tortuguero National Park. Boat tour along the natural canals with a naturalist tour guide. Afternoon free time

DAY 5. Breakfast at the Lodge. Hotel Check Out and transfer to Caño Negro by boat and bus. Arrival to Caño Negro Lodge by midafternoon. Free time for enjoy the area on your own.

DAY 6. Enjoy Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge by boat.

DAY 7. Enjoy a pleasant and sightseeing transfer to Arenal Volcano. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. Free time for discover the city on your own.

DAY 8. Time to explore Arenal area and enjoy the day with the selected tour of your preference included in your package.

DAY 10. Transfer to San Jose airport for take a domestic flight to Drake Bay. Upon arrival, transfer to your lodge or hotel.

DAY 11. Explore unique Corcovado National Park with a professional naturalist tour guide. Admire its rainforest and abundant wildlife.

DAY 12. Have a great day exploring Caño Island and practice snorkeling in one of the most pristine ecosystems in the world.

DAY 13. Take a domestic flight for return to San Jose. Upon arrival, our tour guide will meet you and provide the transfer service to the hotel. Hotel check in and free time for explore the area on your own.

DAY 14. Transfer to International Airport. Time to say goodbye. Have a safe and pleasant journey back to home.

Day by Day Itinerary.

Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA. Arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Upon arrival at the San Jose airport, you will be met by one of our representatives how will explain your itinerary, answer any questions and provide you with a package of vouchers and information about your trip. Transfer to the hotel and free time at leisure.

Day 2. LA PAZ WATERFALLS GARDENS (B, L). Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the full day tour to the ecological attraction of La Paz Waterfalls.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is the #1 Most Visited Privately Owned Ecological Attraction in Costa Rica featuring the best hiking near San José, the most famous waterfalls in Costa Rica, rescued wildlife preserve with over 100 species of animals, and an environmental education program.

With the fine attention and explanations of our naturalist tour guide, enjoy: Five waterfalls, cloud forest and rain forest, safe hiking trails, aviary with numerous species of birds, toucan feeding, insect exhibit, butterfly observatory, capuchin (white-faced) monkeys, black-handed spider monkeys, hummingbird garden with 26 documented species, hummingbird hand feeding in the mornings and afternoons, serpentarium (snake exhibit), jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays, traditional typical  house with petting zoo and ox cart, ranarium (frog exhibit), orchid exhibit, heliconia exhibit.  All these offered at one place, makes us the best Eco-Park in Costa Rica.

Our tour includes a delicious Buffet Lunch. It includes multiple selections of Traditional Costa Rican Dishes, Full Salad Bar, Pizza, Garlic Bread, French Fries, Fresh Fruits, Rice Pudding and unlimited Fresh Fruit Juice, Coffee and Tea.

After finishing all these unique Eco Attractions, and by the middle of the afternoon, return to your hotel in San Jose. This is the best introduction to Costa Rica Wildlife before to depart to our national parks to see them in their natural habitat.

Day 3. TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK (B, L, D) Our exclusive journey to Tortuguero from San Jose is an amazing experience where you will enjoy a pleasant bus transfer to Guapiles Town. Along the way, admire the pristine rainforest of the Braulio Carrillo National Park and Biosphere Reserve declared by UNESCO in 1988. Crystal clear rivers and beautiful waterfalls will be part of the landscape that you can enjoy during this short transfer. Once in Guapiles Town, a stop will be made to enjoy a delicious typical breakfast. Continuing the journey through the lower parts of the Costa Rican Caribbean, crossing extensive plantations of bananas, pineapple, cocoa and other agricultural products common in the area, we will reach Caño Blanco, an area of rivers and lagoons where a boat awaits us and will take us to deeper in the jungle and our final destination Tortuguero.

The boat trip will take about 90 minutes, and it will be a one-in-a lifetime experience surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna. Upon arrival to your lodge, enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a delicious Lunch. After you get your room, get comfortable for explore the area, the beach and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero. A delightful dinner will be served upon the return to the lodge.

Day 4. TORTUGUERO (B, L, D). Discover Costa Rican flavors as you enjoy breakfast at your lodge.  Get ready to travel along the well-known Tortuguero Canals and have the experience of your life in this unique paradise of magnificent flora and fauna. After the tour, enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge. During the afternoon, take your time to enjoy our private trails, ride a kayak through the canals or just relax. Dinner at the hotel. OPTIONAL NIGHT TOUR: Walk on the beach and admire the green turtles nesting (July through September).

Day 5. TORTUGUERO & TRANFER TO CAÑO NEGRO (B, L, D). Breakfast at the lodge. Departure to Caño Negro by boat and bus. Upon arrival, check in at Caño Negro Lodge.

In this enchanting space, you will be in complete harmony with nature. The serene environment of this lodge has a rich appeal, and it is cast in the middle of tropical gardens. As the nearest hotel to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, it’s surrounded by nature and beautiful gardens. It offers an incredible wildlife variety of flora and fauna; therefore, it has been tagged the perfect paradise for real Birdwatchers and passionate wildlife lovers.

Day 6. CAÑO NEGRO TOURS (B, L, D). Breakfast at the lodge and departure to the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge by boat. Ideal for nature lovers, families and groups of friends who enjoy natural and biodiverse environments.

The tour start with a walk through the community of Caño Negro. At the dock we board our boat and begin the tour on the Frio River and lagoons where you will experience stunning landscapes, abounding with wildlife and you will get a glimpse of the daily life of people living near the wetland.

Your guide will point out the many natural and cultural riches of Caño Negro. Visitors will be impressed with the variety of flora and fauna that can be seen inside this refuge which is home to more than 350 species of birds, 310 plants and at least 160 species of mammals.

After the tour return to the lodge for lunch and little siesta. During the afternoon, a second tour to the diverse ecological and sustainable projects developed by the community and environmental organizations. During this experience, you will learn about unique species present in this region such as The Gaspar, a living fossil fish common in the lagoons and estuaries of this amazing region. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 7. CAÑO NEGRO – ARENAL VOLCANO (B).  After breakfast, continue the journey to Arenal Volcano and Fortuna Town. Upon arrival, hotel check in and free time.

Day 10. ARENAL – CORCOVADO PARK (B, L, D).  Today say goodbye to Arenal Volcano. Our transportation will transfer you to the airport for a domestic flight to Drake Bay near Corcovado National Park in the Southern part of Costa Rica and Pacific Ocean.

The diversity found on the Osa peninsula is not surpassed by any region of similar size anywhere on earth. Gary Hartshorn’s enthusiasm was only exceeded by the forest’s when he wrote in Costa Rican Natural History that “these forests are by far the most exuberant in Central America. In fact, the Corcovado forests are just as impressive in height as the best forests I have seen in the Amazon basin or the dipterocarp forests of Malaysia and Indonesia.”

Corcovado National Park is the experience of a lifetime. It encompasses the only remaining old growth wet forests on the Pacific coast of Central America, and 13 major ecosystems including lowland rain forest, highland cloud forest, jolillo palm forest, and mangrove swamps, as well as coastal marine and beach habitats. There is a good chance of spotting some of Costa Rica’s shyest and most endangered inhabitants here; Baird’s Tapirs, Jaguars, Scarlet Macaws, Harpy Eagles, Red-backed squirrel monkeys and White-lipped Peccaries. It is wet, remote and rugged, but the trails are relatively good.

Upon arrival to Drake Bay, a lodge representative will pick you up and provide the transfer service to the hotel. This is the ideal base camp for exploring the magical diversity of Corcovado National Park and Cano Island Reserve.

Day 11 & 12. CORCOVADO PARK EXPEDITIONS (B, L, D).  During these 2 days explore Corcovado with professional naturalist’s tour guides. Expeditions includes a nature walk to Corcovado National Park & Caño Island. One at each day.

Day 13. CORCOVADO PARK – SAN JOSE (B, L, D).  Today say goodbye to Corcovado. Our transportation will take the group to the local airport for a domestic flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival, hotel check in and free time.

Day 14. TRANSFER OUT (B).  The expedition comes to an end and it is time to return home. Transfer to the International airport and goodbye.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE: The shuttle bus is a service where a maximum of 6-7 passengers travel in the same vehicle and to the same destination.
