This tour offers you the opportunity to journey into the rainforest canopy and appreciate views of La Amistad International Park and Chirripó Reserve in a unique and unforgettable fashion.
This world-famous tour consists of 11 observation platforms and 11 horizontal “zip line” traverses specially designed to provide a number of views and experiences. Safety is our priority at the Original Canopy Tour®, and all guests are provided with thorough instruction.
You will glide silently through the rainforest canopy — enjoying commanding views of the wonderful flora and fauna of Costa Rica from the treetops. Pause for a rest at various platforms and marvel at your view of the Costa Rican rainforest as far as the eye can see.
As you sail through the treetops, you will follow a small stream far below you. Wildlife sightings are common—keep your camera ready and be on the lookout for monkeys, sloths and many varieties of tropical birds!
You’ll start and finish your exhilarating canopy tour within walking distance of the reception area where beverages, clean restrooms and a souvenir shop await you.
After the zipline tour, continue the journey visiting Puerto Moin until arrive to the Mar Azul wharf, where the covered motor launch waits for you for a ecological cruise along Tortuguero Canals.
Known as Costa Rica’s Amazon because of its surrounding rain forest, the Tortuguero Canal region is rich with exotic flora and fauna. Board your covered boat for a leisurely cruise through the jungle canals. Your guide explains the rain forest eco-system and points out sights of interest. Keep an eye out for wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, bats, aquatic birds, iguanas and crocodiles as well as exotic flora.
After the boat tour, a Puerto Limon City Tour is included. Learn about the local Caribbean culture of Puerto Limon and get that special gift at the multiple souvenir stores in town or taste some of the local flavors before the return to the ship.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Special Notes: This most active excursion is suitable only for passengers in good physical condition. Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes. Bring insect repellent and rain protection. The minimum age to participate is 6 years old and the maximum weight limit is 270 pounds. Once participants join their tour, they will be required to complete a liability waiver. The photo service at some venues is not affiliated with or provided by Greenway Tours. Any photos purchased from this service will be the passengers’ responsibility.
Tour include: Round trip transportation from Puerto Limon pier, bilingual guides, fruits snack, water, Veragua Zipline Tour, Tortuguero Canal Boat Tour and City Tour.
What To Bring: Long or short pants, tennis shoes (no sandals or you will not be allowed to participate), sunscreen, sunglasses, mosquito repellent, a hat or cap and money for extra expenses.
Tour Meeting Time: 30 Minutes After Ship Arrival (Earliest tour 8:00 AM) We operate all our tours accordingly with the ship arrival. We know sometimes the ships are running late OR early. For this reason, we have our pickup 30 minutes after the ship arrival. First departure 08:00 AM
Meeting Place: Main entrance of the pier. In there you will see our tour guides holding a sign with your name. We do not pick up INSIDE the pier.

We had a great time zip-lining on the river cruise and learning about Limon. WE went through customs and they were right there with a sign for us, we got on our bus and headed out. Our guide was informative and we learned a lot about the country. The zip lining was fun and the riverboat ride was informative and we saw moneys, a sloth, various birds lizards and a crocodile. The price was a lot less than the cruise ship excursion and more personal than the big bus tour that the cruise ship had. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

First time zip lining, really enjoyed it, was apprehensive at first, however after the first run we really enjoyed it. It was the highlight of our cruise. Also enjoyed the canal boat ride, saw a sloth which our boat pulled up to which was approximately five feet away. We were informed that sloths descend to the ground only once a week to defecate and we were fortunate enough to see the sloth so close to the ground.

The organization by and professionalism of the guide and driver were excellent. Everything went as planned and we even had time for an additional stop at a beach. The canal tour allowed us to see some of the local wildlife and our van driver was great at spotting along the way animals. My only challenge was that on four of the nine runs when ziplining I did not make it to the next platform. This required me to pull myself along the cable – exhausting! The safety precautions taken and the instructions given by the ziplining staff were thorough and well done. My husband and I are two seniors who had never zip lined before but we felt very comfortable.

This tour was SO well done. I felt safe throughout the zipline portion and could just relax and have fun. The canal cruise was also nice–saw several types of wildlife in their natural habitat.
