Your Puntarenas Shore Excursion start with the pickup directly from the pier. Our professional naturalist tour guide and deluxe transportation will take care of you during this day.
You will be heading to Villa Lapas Reserve & Eco Hotel, about 1-hour drive from the pier. Upon arrival to our beautiful property, you will have some free time for use restrooms and explore the surroundings before to begging the rainforest nature walk and enjoy crossing the Hanging Bridges.
Experience the beauty of the rainforest through our Villa Lapas Sky Way walking tour 1.5 miles (2.5 km) in length, and 3 suspended bridges at more than 180 feet above the ground. Each of these bridges is an astonishing 300 feet length, crossing through the very heart of the tropical rainforest. This all-ages tour lets you observe the primary and secondary rainforest vegetation. Make yourself one with the jungle. Keep your eyes open to see the numerous bird species, mammals and other varied fauna that call this forest home.
The nature walk last about one hour and it includes some areas with some steeps, uneven terrain, ups and downs. This walk involves a medium physical requirement.
After enjoying a sample of a tropical ecosystem, enjoy complementary tropical fresh fruits and IceTea before to continue our journey to Tarcoles River and the property of Jungle Crocodile Safari, for a 60 minutes boat tour. Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tarcoles River forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild and they are very easy to admire during our one-hour boat tour. Besides crocodiles, many aquatic bird species, monkeys & scarlet macaws are easy to see.
After the tour, return to the pier. Upon arrival, you can decide to stay in the city or make your way back directly to the ship. For all those interested in walking along the boulevards, the pier is located right at the city at a very short distance from your ship. So, no worries for an easy return.
Notes: This tour require good physical conditions. It is not recommended for senior with low or limited mobility. Trail distance is 1 mile under some difficult tropical conditions. If you are not able to walk under these conditions, we recommend taking the Rainforest Wagon Tour. It is an easy way to visit the rainforest.

What To Bring: Long or short pants, tennis shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, mosquito repellent, a hat or cap and money for extra expenses.
Tour Meeting Time: 30 Minutes After Ship Arrival (Earliest tour 8:00 AM) We operate all our tours accordingly with the ship arrival. We know sometimes the ships are running late OR early. For this reason, we have our pickup 30 minutes after the ship arrival. First departure 08:00 AM
Meeting Place: Main entrance of the pier. In there you will see our tour guides holding a sign with your name. We do not pick up INSIDE the pier.
Arrival Ports: Puntarenas or Puerto Caldera. Our tours are operated from the port the cruise ship arrives. Do not worry about it. We will be at any port.

A great day!
My husband and I booked this tour before leaving on a cruise. Details of how and when to get to the pick-up point were provided by email. We had a small tour bus of about 15 people, and our guide was knowledgeable, entertaining, and accommodating. As well, the price was reasonable.
The Skywalk is mostly downhill and not a hard walk but is over uneven terrain so might be a challenge for someone with mobility issues. Birds and crocodiles were observed on the river. Bottled water was provided, but it is good to bring your own as well as snacks though we did stop for a fruit break. As well, we had an opportunity to shop for souvenirs and coffee. Although we had been a bit worried about doing a non-cruise affiliated tour, we were very glad we did. Overall, a great tour and day.

Nice Experience
this combination tour gave a nice variety to exploring the land of Costa Rica. The bridges were a novel way of experiencing the rain forest. While we heard toucans, no birds or wildlife were seen. We saw several large crocodiles on the river. The guides knew exactly where to find them and even hand fed one. We were also able to see the crocs next to our boat.

A Fantastic Experience
What an experience, not only walking through the canopy high up in the trees but an adventure with crocodiles. A party of four of us were met directly at our cruise ship and therefor no searching for the operator, only 50 metres from the the ship our minibus was awaiting. This began a great experience which we all really enjoyed. Our guide was a mind of information as we traversed the forest for about 90 minutes before having a rest at a local hotel before our next adventure with crocodiles. This lasted about 80 minutes and to me was the highlight of our tour. The captain of the ship even went ashore and fed these wild crocodile with chicken and even had then take the food from his hand; something i would not attempt.
Our guide for the day was just brilliant he could not have been better;unfortunately I am unable to remember his name but I attach his photo! Thank you for the tour it was excellent.
